Chatsworth Secondary loses Court Battle
September 3, 2014
With the current income problems at KZN Scools, many of them are turning to letting out property for business use, which turned out to be a costly enterprise for Chatsworth Secondary School.
The school had allowed a Bayview resident Preneshin Chetty, to operate his Car Wash from within the schools premises which resulted in a court case that ruled in favour of Mr Chetty. The ruling was made because counsel for the Kwazulu-Natal department of Education who were one of the respondents, failed to file the requires heads of argument before the matter could be heard.
The case was brought up due to a dispute between the school and Mr Chetty, who was locked out of his business on two occasions in February. According to the school, Chetty was not paying his bills which resulted in the school amassing a Water and Electricity bill of over R100 000.
