Another Drug bust in Chatsworth

Members of the Chatsworth Crime Prevention Unit received information of a vehicle that was allegedly transporting drugs to Palm Road, Croftdene, and Chatsworth. The members immediately proceeded to the location and spotted a vehicle fitting the said description. Police searched the vehicle and found drugs. Police further searched the home where a delivery was made and they found more drugs. Police seized in total 15 400 straws of heroin and 700 mandrax tablets with a street value of R406 000, 00.
Derien Chetty (20) and Leona Govender (20) were arrested and appeared in the Chatsworth Magistrates’ Court yesterday, 21 August 2014. They were granted bail of R30 000 each and will reappear at court on 29 October 2014.
The KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni commended the members for the arrest of the suspects and seizure of drugs. “We appreciate the assistance of the community in bringing these suspects too book. If we strengthen this relationship we can win the battle against drug,” she said.
